  • sweet, bland

  • stomach and bladder (Shao Yin, Tai Yang and Yang Ming of the hand, lungs, liver)

Direction of action:

  • descending

Effects:

  • promotes urination (lubricates)
  • clears summer heat

 

Dosage:

  • 6 – 18 g, standard 9 g

Contraindications:

  • spleen and stomach deficiency, damage to fluids during febrile diseases and from nocturnal emissions related to kidney deficiency, sinking of Qi
