Broccoli is a type of cabbage and is related to cauliflower. It originates from the Mediterranean region. It is rich in vitamin C, beta-carotene, vitamin E, B1, B2 and B9. In terms of minerals, it mainly contains potassium, calcium, phosphorus and sulphur.

Broccoli has a sweet taste and a cooling nature. It clears summer heat, harmonises the stomach and is suitable for constipation. It is also used for inflammation and diseases of the eyes and skin. In cases of hypothyroidism, it is recommended to cook it with seaweed.
