The sweet chestnut is native to North Africa and the Middle East, from where it spread to the Mediterranean. The first chestnuts reached us in Bohemia after 1679.

They strengthen the kidneys and spleen, have a sweet taste and a warm nature. They support blood production, disperse stagnation, benefit muscles and tendons, and support bone healing. Weakened limbs, swelling, weak stomach. They stop bleeding. For diarrhoea, nausea. Chestnut purée pâté.
