It is also called the cross, and was found in the tombs of the ancient Egyptians. It was also known in Babylon, where medicinal recipes were found with it. The plant originates from Ethiopia, but is grown in the east of India, in Iran, Turkey and in southern Spain, Sicily and Malta.

Caraway is of a warm nature and pungent taste. It supports digestion and relieves stagnation in the lungs and large intestine.
