The translation of the Chinese name – "Calm Menopause" – tells us what this formula is intended for. It is a modern patent formula designed specifically for the period when the body experiences a gradual decline in Yin substances (the level of our life essence, as the most Yin-like vital substance, naturally decreases with age), and that which cools, moistens and nourishes is suddenly missing in the organism. When there is little Yin and it does not cool sufficiently, Yang begins to relatively predominate in the organism, and so-called deficiency heat or empty heat appears. This is also related to the drop in oestrogen levels, which are characteristic of the Yin (first) phase of the cycle, when the follicle matures and the uterine lining grows. When Yin (the level of essence) drops below a critical value, this ceases to happen and menstruation stops.
For some women, menopause proceeds smoothly. For others, empty heat can cause many unpleasant symptoms, such as: sweating at night and sometimes during the day, hot flushes, heat in the palms, chest and soles of the feet, fatigue, poor memory (the brain is considered a sea of marrow, which is also nourished by kidney essence), anxiety and fear, dizziness, tinnitus, nervousness and restless sleep (due to the heat disturbing the Shen spirit).
It is important to stop sweating, because further Yin is lost through it. The combination of pearl oyster shell, schisandra and sprouted wheat works excellently here. Furthermore, we have herbs here to replenish Yin substances, cool the blood and anchor the Yang, which, in the absence of Yin – the anchor – tends to rise (the formula is, for example, very effective in treating menopausal hypertension). We also have golden eye-grass (Xian Mao) here, which can stabilise fluctuating hormone levels. Pearl oyster, schisandra and ophiopogon also directly calm the Shen spirit and, together with the replenishment of blood and essence, thus stabilise the psyche and emotions again.
Use with caution in cases of weaker digestion and signs of spleen deficiency (digestive complex); in that case, start with a lower dose and gradually increase it to the recommended one or one that does not cause digestive problems.
