Use of the formula according to Traditional Chinese Medicine:

  • stopping bleeding

Description:

A simple mixture composed of three herbs, all of which stop bleeding – and this is the main and only use of this mixture. It can be added to other tinctures that stop bleeding (e.g., Gui Pi Tang, Qing Re Zhi Beng Tang, Tao Hong Si Wu Tang Jia Wei, Gu Ben Zhi Beng Tang, Dang Gui Shao Yao Tang, Dao Chi San etc.)

Pseudoginseng and mugwort are warm and arborvitae is cold, so the mixture is thermodynamically quite balanced and can be used as a supplementary mixture for bleeding from heat (both empty and full) as well as for bleeding from spleen deficiency with possible cold.

Indications and modern effects:

  • signs of bleeding in all locations

Tongue:

  • various, according to the underlying condition (red in case of heat, paler and swollen in case of spleen deficiency)

Pulse:

  • various, according to the underlying condition

Contraindications:

  • thrombophilic states (tendency to form blood clots)

Notes:

Let us keep in mind that with this mixture we are only addressing the "tips" of the disease, i.e., what is "visible" – the bleeding, but not its cause. Therefore, this mixture is administered as a supplement to a mixture that addresses the pattern of the disease, i.e., its "root" – see above.
